The transient was discovered on 23rd January 2023 at 17:28:19 (MJD 59967.73) by GaiaAlerts as Gaia23akh with a discovery magnitude of G = 17.30. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.030.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with CGCG224-064NED01; an r=15.23 mag galaxy found in the NED_D/SDSS/PS1 catalogues. Its located 12.51" S, 72.90" E (48.4 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host distance of 135.0 Mpc(z=0.029) implies a m - M = 35.65.
