The transient was discovered on 13th January 2023 at 12:23:42 (MJD 59957.52) by ATLAS as ATLAS23ajp with a discovery magnitude of orange = 17.17. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.035.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with 2MASSJ10261180%2B1830403; an r=17.68 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS/PS1 catalogues. Its located 2.66" N, 4.89" W (3.8 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.035 implies a m - M = 35.93.
