The transient was discovered on 7th January 2023 at 05:15:49 (MJD 59951.22) by ZTF as ZTF23aaaatee with a discovery magnitude of g = 16.83. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.019.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with IC2005; a J=11.03 mag galaxy found in the NED/2MASS/LASR/PS1/GAIA catalogues. Its located 0.51" S, 1.70" E (0.7 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.019 implies a m - M = 34.63.
