The transient was discovered on 19th December 2022 at 11:32:50 (MJD 59932.48) by ZTF as ZTF22abzkgja with a discovery magnitude of g = 17.84. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.015.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with MCG-01-30-011; a J=10.95 mag AGN found in the NED/2MASS/LASR/PS1 catalogues. Its located 5.74" S, 13.94" W (4.7 Kpc) from the AGN centre. A host z=0.016 implies a m - M = 34.14.
