The transient was discovered on 13th March 2023 at 05:28:54 (MJD 60016.23) by ZTF as ZTF22abykdbm with a discovery magnitude of r = 17.88. It was subsequently classified as a SN IIP at z = 0.031.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with CGCG036-072; a J=12.72 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS/2MASS/PS1 catalogues. Its located 2.42" S, 0.56" W (1.5 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.031 implies a m - M = 35.69.
